NOTE! The Art of Research Conference chairs and organisers have been closely following the global situation in regard to Covid-19 related issues. It is of our main concern that safety and well being is preserved. At the moment we keep positive hopes and continue with the organisation of the conference as initially planned, and expect to host you all in December 2020 in Espoo, Finland. However, we are aware of institutional bans on international travelling for the rest of the year as well as the different policies on movement restriction throughout the world which cannot be anticipated. Thus we have decided to welcome remote participation. We will keep you informed on the arrangements through this website, and look forward to engaging with you all, in Espoo and on-line!
The seventh Art of Research conference will be held on 3-4 December 2020 in online mode.
The theme of the conference “Authorship and Responsibility” addresses the varied collaborative and individual working situations of researcher artists, designers and architects. The theme connects to questions of singular authorship, shared authorship, lost authorship, invisible or uncredited authorship, participatory conditions, co-creation, inclusion and exclusion.
The Art of Research conferences promote the continuous dialogue of research practices in art and design. The previous six conferences have contributed to the development of rapidly growing and spreading discourse on artistic and practice-led research. Over the two decades the conferences have had a significant role in engaging in multiple notions of research where diverse modes of creative practice are used as catalysts for enquiry.
The conference is organized by Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture.
